August 18 - 22

This Week!

Math: Even and Odd Numbers 1.1 1.3 (There will be math fact homework.)

Reading: Mr. Blueberry

Writing: Ocean Facts

Content: Ocean Habitat

Spelling: List 1

I am so excited for my new group of second graders! We have had a fun time thus far! Here are some quick reminders. The spelling and fluency homework pages are due Friday. Remember on the spelling that your child needs to pick two activities from the paper in the back of his/her folder and write them on the lined paper given. This can be turned in before or on Friday. Also, your child can bring a water bottle to school. It is still quite warm. This is the only week I will be sending a hardcopy home unless you notified me you would like one. I will be sending emails from now on. Thanks so much for all of your support! It will be a great year!

First Post and First Freebie!

I'm so excited that you stopped by my blog! With encouragement from my family and friends, I am starting to share my products and ideas. Hopefully I can help you out in some way.

If you are like my school, we are getting on board for the Common Core. Our new math program is Go Math! It has been a little stressful trying to get ready, but the best way to learn is to jump right in. After talking to my grade level team, we decided to make a 180 counting chart instead of using the receipt paper and sticky notes for counting. Below is a copy of a chart that I made. We are going to color all the 5's in one color, and the 10's in another as we count to 180 throughout the year. We printed it on cardstock and plan to have students put it in the front cover of their Go Math! textbook. This way students' build the counting chart with us. You can project it on your document camera or SmartBoard. We enlarged ours and are laminating it.

I hope that all made sense! Good luck!
